There are many shopping facilities on Barbados. Maybe you want to enjoy retailers with a touch to the local farmers rather than the bigger chains like Massy's or Jordan's. You will find many local suppliers in Speightstown. Also, Holders Farmer Market - open usually on each Sunday - offers fine local supplies.

And, below, there are some further links to markets/suppliers that we find specifically noteworthy.

Clifton Market

Although their slogan "Farm to People" does not fully hold true, the Clifton Market shops are usually a nice difference to the bigger stores.  You will get some good organic stuff there - and indeed some local produce as well - you may want to try this out!

The Eldred Farm

The Eldred Farm - a biointensive market farm on the island - offers fruits, herbs and vegetables, all produced based on organic practices. You need to contact them via email.

Haymans Market

Haymans Plantation is an old sugar cane plantation established already 1649. Since 2020 it was repurposed and transformed to house, for instance, shops for local retailers, a market and a restaurant. This is where you will find local supplies easily.

Grass Fed Hills

Grass Fed Hills is another small outfit that have grown over the last years. They offer great beef in various forms - classic cuts, burger patties or breakfast sausage, for instances. They can only be reached on Instagram.

PEG Farm and Nature Reserve

PEG Farm and Nature Reserve is a biodynamic farm where you get food of highest standards in the farm market . You can also enjoy the landscape while sitting in the farm café - or you can take a tour through the nature reserve. We love it!
